Marina Perryman – CEO

Resonate’s co-founder and CEO, Marina Perryman, has delivered Community Music & Arts projects for over twenty years. With extensive experience in creativity-for-wellbeing leadership, Marina is hugely passionate about the positive impact that collaborative music-making and creativity can have on our lives. She believes everyone should have access to participatory arts projects as a means for wellbeing, social connection, and creative exploration.

Marina is a registered coach with the International Coaching Federation and a qualified teacher with a PGCE in adult education from the University of Brighton. She holds an HE Cert in Music Workshop Skills from Goldsmiths, University of London, and has built an extensive portfolio of training to support her leadership and practice in the field of Community Music & Arts.

Marina has delivered creativity-for-wellbeing projects for people in challenging circumstances for many organisations, including: Sidney de Haan Research Centre for Arts and Health, Wishing Well Music for Health, AudioActive, Brighton and Hove Music for Connection, Community Music, Rhythmix, The Crew Club, Dv8 Sussex, SparkedEcho, and Resonate.

Marina co-founded Resonate in 2019 through her commitment to providing opportunities for individuals and communities to flourish through participatory experiences in the arts and music.

Charlotte Almond – Director of Services

Co-founder and director Charlotte Almond has extensive professional experience in managing and delivering services within the community and voluntary sector.

Charlotte holds a BA in Peace and Development Studies from the University of Bradford, a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling from the University of Brighton, and has completed her training as a Mindfulness Practitioner with Sussex Partnership NHS Trust.

Charlotte worked for six years within Strategy and Emergency Planning and Response at the Head Office of the British Red Cross. She has since gained extensive experience in the leadership and delivery of front-line supportive services for people in challenging circumstances.

Charlotte co-founded Brighton Counselling Collective in 2017 and has managed therapeutic services in Brighton and Hove for Brighton Women’s Centre, Cruse Bereavement Care, and the Macmillan Horizon Centre. She has introduced creative therapies to the services she leads, including singing and vocal psychotherapy, dance and movement psychotherapy, and creative journaling-for-wellbeing groups.

Charlotte co-founded Resonate in 2019 through her deep appreciation of the arts and creativity as a route to self-actualisation and holistic wellbeing.

Dave Brand – Director of Operations & Finance

Dave Brand has worked in third sector organisational development since 2016. He now specialises in charity and voluntary sector operations and finance.

After graduating with a Master’s degree in Philosophy, Dave’s passion for music and his early career experiences with Nordoff Robbins ignited his interest in organisations committed to making a positive social impact through music. He supported a large team of music leaders at Rhythmix for three years, in addition to securing partnerships and funding for a wide range of Community Music projects.

Dave particularly enjoys supporting organisations to run smoothly and efficiently through the establishment of robust operational systems. He has undertaken AAT training to inform his work in accounting and finance.

Dave joined Resonate as Development Manager in 2020 and is now the Director of Operations and Finance.

Sam Halligan – Advisory Board Member

Sam brings extensive experience in front-line community musicianship, project management and strategic development. He also works as a sound engineer and stage manager at festivals and live music venues. Sam runs Fingers Push Buttons which builds musical instruments, designs products using visual programming and publishes electronic music. He is firmly committed to providing music making experiences that are closely tailored to the needs and interests of those taking part.

Alex Ratcliffe – Advisory Board Member

Alex began her career as a teacher of art and held senior leadership roles within Special Education. Alex is an Independent Mental Capacity Advocate, a Further Education Assessor and is a published author on the lives of autistic adults. Alex is passionate about promoting identity-first language, seeing autism through the social rather than medical model and increasing autism acceptance not merely awareness. Alex provides consultancy on inclusive creative practice.

Dylan Hibbert – Advisory Board Member

Dylan has worked within the NHS for 20 years following an earlier career as a production manager in the print trade. Dylan currently works as an Occupational Therapy Technical Instructor and loves supporting people through music. He holds group and individual sessions for patients to play and record music at the Hellingly Centre, and helps to run the Hellingly Centre radio show which broadcasts on Hailsham FM. Dylan is committed to widening participation in music for people experiencing mental health difficulties.
